In 1889 Henry David Lee established the HD Lee Mercantile Co in Kansas. HD Lee began his business by specialising in selling fine goods. He saw a need for reliable, high quality work wear and more efficient delivery standards than that of Eastern suppliers and so, by 1911, HD Lee started making overalls of a high quality, the first being the Bib Overall. By 1924 Lee introduced the Cowboy Pants and the Lee Jean was born. The designed progressed and by 1926 zipper technology was added to the jeans. It wasn’t until 1949 that Lee tapped into the women’s jean market. Their Lady Lee Riders were dubbed the best fitting jeans in the industry. Lee Jeans are the heart and soul of the brand. Lee stands out with its focus on great fits, fabrics, finishes and features.
